Shopping trip number two was an unexpected stop at a Santa Rosa bridal shop. I was in town for work and when my brother's girlfriend told me her coworkers had all found their dresses here, I decided it was worth a trip. While the shop was rather large, they really didn't have that many dresses. We went around and pulled the dresses we liked, but in the end, many of the size 8 samples just wouldn't fit over this bod. So I tried on what I could. I didn't find my dress here, but it was an improvement from DBs, so I'm glad I went.
This trip solidified my love for the sweetheart neckline. Because I am quite busty, the sweetheart line gives some definition unlike the strait across strapless. I also discovered that I love an asymmetrical bodice. While I don't think I would have picked that look initiall, it did wonders for me. These are three of the dresses I tried on. I think put on six total, but many were not the right dress.
Thank you all so much for your comments, tips and ideas.
Stay tuned for part III.
I like the detail of the first top best. I think the dress would be awesome if that detail was all over. Sweetheart necklines DO make strapless so much better for busty girls. I usually end up looking like I have one big boob in strapless! :)
ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear that trip #2 went better! I agree with Abbie, sweatheart necklines do make strapless look better for bustier girls. Hopefully trip #3 was a success!!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Abbie - the details on the Sottero are very chic. Love that brooch! It's got the most relaxed "chic barn outdoorsy wedding with lots of calligraphy" look to it. Though I do think that the neckline on the last frothy concoction is amazing. The Venus dress is a GREAT shape on you!
ReplyDeleteITs always great to hear someone else with the same issues i had when it came to finding my dress. Sample sizes=hell. The sweatheart looks fabulous on you. I had about three trips to DBs and hated everything. i ended up finding a little dress shop that carried the designer i was look at. (Watters & Watters) I ordered my dress with around 7 months till the wedding and the shops thought i was crazy cutting it so close. Good luck!!!! Happy dress hunting!
ReplyDeletei aodre the sweet heart tops to! i felt like it made my busy so much better looking LOL:) but its so true! i had one dress I LOVED (think jessica simpson nick lachey wedding dress) but no sweetheart top it was a deal breaker!
ReplyDeleteI had the exact same problem. The 8s I couldn't even get on my body. The 10s I sometimes could but usually needed a 12 to get around the "rack of doom". :-) It was a pain in the rear.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I too am a HUGE fan of the sweetheart neckline! I LOVE the Maggie on you. That bodice is so so flattering. My dress is straight across, but I'm having a seamstress turn it into a sweetheart!
I am not the tiny little model most of these dresses are shown on, and so I had to make sure the dress was going to flatter me the most. I ended up getting my dress changed into a sweetheart and was amazing at how much it did for me! I definitely recommend it!
ReplyDeleteI love the first one on you! it flatters and looks great on you!
i LOVELOVELOVE the top of the first dress. i mean, the whole dress rocks, but the top is beautiful :)
ReplyDeletetwo thumbs up.
The Maggie looks amazing on you!!!! It is a stunning dress and is very flattering!!
