11 Weeks

How Far Along: 11 Weeks

Size of Baby as Relative to Common Household Fruit or Vegetable: Fig

Total Weight Gain: Looks like I'm down to a three pound weight gain

Movement: none yet, but I swear I'm feeling flutters even though I know it's really early

Sleep:much better.

What I miss: not much this week.

Cravings: bean and cheese burritos, sunflower seeds

Symptoms: I thought my morning sickness had subsided, but I threw up again this week after my morning shower. My hunger and cravings are a lot less intense this week

Best moment of the week: Seeing baby at my specialist appointment. Baby was moving, waving and jumping all over the screen.

Worst moment of the week: watching the Dr. measure and examine the reminants of baby A on the ultrasound. Baby A passed away at 9 weeks, but is still visible on the ultrasound. Watching

Last time I went to the Perinatologist office, I learned about my incompetent cervix. I had gone in for a second look at Bremy's measurements and was completely shocked to learn that my cervix was dilated to 1cm. This time, I did some research and found a specialist who does a lot of cerclages and is the head of a group of Perinatoligists in my area. This appointment was wonderful. This Dr. just took control of the appointment and laid it all out there for me. I felt very prepared for meeting him and had a ton of questions. He stayed with me for over 40 minutes, explaining it all and giving me the facts. He didn't grimace at me, or act like he felt sorry for me. He acted like he would do everything in his power to make this a successful pregnancy. I felt like my incompetent cervix was finally in competent hands. I left just feeling like this was possible and that he could help me. We scheduled my cerclage for the end of the month, and made two follow up appointments. This Dr. didn't scare me, or promise me the world, he just seemed to know how to handle this situation. It really helped to calm my nerves!

  1. I'm so happy you found a dr. who is helping you. My sister's cervix opened to 2cm when she was 2 months pregnant with her second child. She had an emergency cerclage done and was on bed rest for the remainder of her pregnancy (just to be careful), but she did great! No problems the whole time and went on to have another healthy baby after her second child. The cerclage was great for her, and I think it'll work out best for you too. Keep staying positive! xoxo
